It's gotten cold here, so it's time to begin getting ready for spring. I'm going to begin showing you what needs to be done to make a garden work with my system. It's really not difficult, it's more knowing what needs to be done. I've already removed all of last years plants and the dripper hoses, now I'm taking out dirt where the tomatoes were. Last year I only removed the dirt under each plant, this year I'm taking more out. I take the dirt out each year to remove mold or sickness which could carry over to next year. The dirt will be used elsewhere in our garden. Here's a picture! I'll put a mixture of compost and dirt from another part of the garden and crush lots of egg shells (TY to Jane for the tip) into it. Tomatoes need calcium and it's easier than spraying it onto the leaves. I also took my filter apart and now it's clear why the drippers were constantly full and why I had peace this year. It's filthy! Believe it or not the sand underneath is white, I hadn't expected so much dirt in rain water especially because with take the water from the top of our underground tank. Live and learn! That's it for now, still studying Wiki info, but I'm not in a hurry yet.
