Want to know what my motivation is?
I've been avoiding this page! I don't want to become the topic of this site. There is so much hatred and distrust in the world, that I wanted this to be completely neutral. Without bias for any thing, any one, any country or religion. I've come to the conclusion, that my topic is too something for everyone who reads it. Too long, too impossible, too dreamy, to expensive or just downright too laughable!
I'm going to prove to you that it is possible and that kids can do it, with just a little help. I will not make a cent for my club activities and the club will not accept any money, so will not waste any in the search for answers and we have goals set by the United Nations itself. I only ask that kids be allowed to try! The experiences they have, while working as a team, melding modern tech into solutions for the SDGs, all documented so others learn from their mistakes is the way, but we need to begin ASAP.
This is how I'd like to see me:
My fathers family migrated into the USA at a time when Europe really needed help. They were proud to be Americans and happy for the things they had, which often were not frivolous. He had 10 kids, meaning a lot of mouths to feed and clothe. We were a team, there was always someone there to help when it was needed! We got an education in a Catholic grade school and began work at 12; we worked hard and played to win.
I was a very shy boy, afraid of rejection, so couldn't find work after high school. I joined the US Air Force and hoped to see the world while I grew up. It was the best decision I ever could have made, since it showed me that the world is immense and home was only a drop in the big pool. I spent 20 years in the USAF and was privileged to have been outside the US for most of that time. I was in Germany most, but also other countries and received 2 Air Medals for 62 food delivery landings into Sarajevo during the war in Bosnia. I only point this out, to show that I'm a Vet and not another dreamer trying to take your money and waste your time.
Serving in peace time allowed me to see that the US military can work for good, not only destruction. I witnessed first hand that helping people is a much more powerful tool than killing them. Hate leads to more hate, but helping leads to friendship and only teamwork will solve the problems that exist today.
Most of my military career being in Germany has allowed me to see things from a different point of view, from the outside looking in. My German family, friends and colleagues. have allowed me to see the world, from a new perspective, another view point so different than the one I grew up in and believed in. Additionally, the "peace time military" gave me a perspective of the US that most people in the world will never see, one of helping innocents rather than killing.
No matter which country I served in I was always close to the local people and was glad to learn from them. Spending so much time outside of the US allowed me to hear opinions and see facts which aren't readily available to the average person. I've seen such terrible hardship in the world and how easy it is for us to ignore it, even when it's staring you in the face. Life means something to me today which it couldn't have, if I had chosen another path, I've been blessed by life and feel an immense need to give something back. I feel that some "fate" has put me in a situation which allows me time to go after answers and I took the bait, hook line and sinker.
I want nothing from this entire project! I will not get rich. Life has given me enough! I refuse to chase after ever more luxury. I don't want to take, I want to give! Take my idea and go with it, make it your own . All money is to go to the WFP, they know what to do with it and have their hands full. I give my knowledge freely and hope that what I've begun will be a turning point for mankind!
One last point, I can't tell you how this idea came to me, I guess my life has just led me to a place where everything clicked. I feel a debt to humanity for what I've learned and have an idea which, if I could just get someone to understand, could change the world.
I honestly believe that my plan is so simple, so peaceful, so healthy, so human, so right that it can't fail, if...
I'm not a genius! My garden is really only so good, because my wife and her parents are great at gardening. I thank them for feeding me veggies, being my teachers and the ones whose skills you'll be watching.
My only contribution to this garden is a simple idea for a drip watering system which uses no tap water, almost no electricity, could easily be created from recycled plastic, yet is so automated that it allows you to go away from your garden and still have peace.
It's only the first of many gardens I hope to show you, with only one goal in mind.
Feeding the world, together with you!
I believe humanity needs help desperately! I've taken the first step, will you follow?
Just being the light!
