The Goal addresses all major health priorities, including reproductive, maternal and child health; communicable, non-communicable and environmental diseases. A summary of the UN targets by 2030: - Reduce the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100,000 live births - End preventable deaths of newborns and children under 5 years of age - End the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases and combat hepatitis, water-borne diseases and other communicable diseases - Strengthen the prevention and treatment of substance abuse - Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services - Achieve universal health coverage - Reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and pollution - Strengthen the implementation of the WHO framework on Tobacco Control in all countries - Support R+D of vaccines and medicines for communicable and non-communicable diseases that primarily affect developing countries, provide access to affordable essential medicines and vaccines - Substantially increase all aspects of health care in developing countries - Strengthen the capacity of all countries, in particular developing countries, for early warning, risk reduction and management of national and global health risks Would you allow your child, sibling or friend to go without healthcare? Imagine that millions today have nowhere to go when they get sick! Shouldn't health care be a civil right? We must act now to end this imbalance and show that everyone has right to live.
